Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have nabbed the leading roles in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey. James announced the casting news via her Twitter earlier today.
Johnson takes on the role of the naive student Anastasia Steele, while Hunnam will play wealthy and tormented entrepreneur Christian Grey. Though Fifty Shades of Grey is not a YA novel, the erotica got its start online as a steamy piece of Twilight fanfiction, before James made a few changes and self-published the novel. It was so popular, Random House eventually reached a deal with the author for distribution.
Johnson is best known for her role on the short-lived Fox comedy "Ben and Kate," as well as minor roles in films like 21 Jump Street, The Social Network, and The Five Year Engagement. Hunnam most recently appeared in the movie Pacific Rim, and stars in the FX drama Sons of Anarchy.
