US national team striker Charlie Davies (left), 23 was injured in a car accident early Tuesday morning in Virginia. There was only one car involved in the crash and the other person in the car was killed. Authorities were unsure who was driving. Charlie Davies was stable after surgery on Tuesday afternoon, and his disclosed injuries were not considered life threatening, but his exact condition is unknown.
The US team has already secured a spot at the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa, and will face Costa Rica on Wednesday in Washington in their final qualifier.
In August, Real Salt Lake team captain Kyle Beckerman said,"it would be awesome" if they could make it to the FIFA World Cup Finals, but they didn't.
