Charlie Askew returned to the "American Idol" stage, just one week after being eliminated from the competition, Thursday night.
Performing for a chance to win a slot on the upcoming "American Idols Live Tour," Askew took the stage with a piano and sang a rendition of "Sky Blue Diamond."
Delivering a strong vocal performance, while also showing off his musicianship playing the piano, Askew seemed to impress the panel of judges.
While he might have impressed the judges, the final decision to send him on the tour will be in the hands of fans, who can vote via the "American Idol" website.
As seen last week, Charlie Askew was eliminated after giving a performance that made judges, like Nicki Minaj, question his sudden decision to change his style.
"Last time I saw you I wanted to cradle you in my arms. Where's my baby at Charlie? I feel like someone stole my kid. I don't want to see your arms. I don't want you to work out. Charlie, seriously I want my cute cuddly Charlie back," said Minaj. "Now it's like darker. I don't know what's going on. I'm upset."
Askew, along with other eliminated contestants, will learn whether or not he will be touring later this year.
Were you impressed with Charlie Askew's performance and do you think this part of the competition is a great idea to give contestants a second chance?
"American Idol" returns Wednesday night on FOX.
