Charlestown resident Tyler Goldman, age 11 and his dancing partner Sophia Latessa, age 10 of Brookline took first place at the 2010 World Dance Council Amateur League Championships. The competition was held Friday December 10 at the Disneyland Resort in Paris.

Disneyland Paris is a holiday and recreation resort in Marne la Vallee, a new town in the eastern suburbs of Paris.

Goldman and Latessa beat out 39 other couples in the World Open Juvenile Under-12 Latin Championship division. They were the first Americans to ever accomplish this.

Goldman has been a Latin ballroom dance competitor for the past two years.
In November he and Latessa appeared on Dancing with the Stars after having just returned from the London International Ballroom Dance Festival where they placed 6th.

Winning this competition is an amazing achievement and Charlestown residents wish them both continued success.
