The 60s ended August 9th, 1969.
It's hard to believe that 40 years have passed since Charlie Manson and his followers murdered Sharon Tate, her baby, Paul Richard Polanski, (whom she was 8 1/2 months pregnant with,) Abagail Folger, (the coffee heiress,) her friend Voytek Frykowski and Jay Sebring, (the man who was one of the first "hair-stylists, as opposed to "barbers, etc.) Also killed was a young man at the wrong place, wrong time. Steven Parent who was from my hometown, El Monte, California.
Manson was actually not present at the Tate house for those horrible murders, however he did go into the LaBianca house and "set things up".
Manson, Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, and Patricia Krenwinkel were tried and given the death penalty (which was later over-turned in the state of California, commuting their sentence to life in prison.)
Another family member, Linda Kasabian who stood watch at the Tate murder site turned states evidence. She served no time.
According to Sabrina Johnson, spokeswoman for the "Corcoran State Prison, where Manson is being housed, "Manson has his own cell. His exposure to prison neighbors that include mass killer Juan Corona and Robert F. Kennedy's assassin, Sirhan Sirhan, is very limited".
Manson is now 74 years old and is said to be in good health. His hair is short and he is balding. He looks like "Grandpa", except for the Swastika which he carved on his forehead while on trial.
Charlie is said to have mellowed in his old age, I doubt it. Manson has had many parole hearings at which he usually acted out and was denied parole. The last time, in 2007, he didn't even show up.
One of Manson's most loyal followers and cold-blooded killer, Susan Atkins, is terminally-ill, she requested and was denied "compassionate release
Since she showed no compassion for Sharon Tate and her baby, I am very relieved that she will have no compassion shown to her.
On Friday, CNN will be showing a special to commemorate the dubious 40th anniversary. It will be shown at 7pm pst and 10pm est.

Jason, thank you for pointing that out, I did change it. However, the mistake was quoted in other sites.
Kelly, she was pregnant with "Paul Richard Polanski", that was the babies name. The name had been chosen and is on the plate that is on the grave. I refuse to say simply "Roman Polanski's Baby, As if the child was nothing. She was 8 1/2 months pregnant, the child could easily lived outside of her body, even back in 1969.

We were all heart sick when that viscous killer took all our hopes and dreams away.By 1968, we were again ready to move forward and had great hope in what we believed would be our future leaders.Americans of all races,religious beliefs and political beliefs were ready to join together for a united America. Unfortunately, the great hope was short lived. Thanks to the murderers of Martin Luther King,Bobby Kennedy and the Tate-LaBianca's, our hopes and dreams were once again snuffed out. May they all rot in hell
