Charles Butler & Trinity are bringing an exciting concert to the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) that will certainly be one of the most power-packed events of 2014. The "Freedom In Worship" concert will feature Earnest Pugh, JJ Hairston, Sunday Best Winner Tasha Page-Lockhart, Brittney Wright, Jarmel Evans and Amos Saint Jean. There will also be special appearances. Multiple-award winner Byron Cage will serve as concert host. The event takes place Friday, Jan. 31 at Union Temple Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m.
What led you to put this concert together?
One of the things that just kept coming to me was that I anted to have first of all, a quality concert that was affordable for our own area. Sometimes we get artists and they are like $50-$60, so I wanted to put something together that everyone could afford and have an event that everybody could attend. Tasha Page-Lockhart can draw some of the younger people; Earnest Pugh has a different following than JJ Hairston, so it’s a concert for everybody.
You’ve also included Amos St. Jean who is from the D.C area.
I saw Amos over at Evangel Cathedral for the concert that he did and I just fell in love with his ministry. It was my first time seeing him with a live band so I’m an Amos St. Jean fan.
Will we get to see you and Trinity perform as well?
We will be performing and backing up some of the artists. We will be performing our music and we’ve just added some new stuff to our concert. People have seen us in concert before, but we are really trying to step it up a notch.
What can people expect from “Freedom to Worship”?
With this experience we want to get people to their freedom. We want it to be a complete freedom of worship; for God to have his way without any limitations and we just want the artists to be free to do what they do.
You released "Better" last year. Are there plans for another album?
We’re going to definitely work on the album this year. I’m looking forward to it. I’m really grateful for everything that the last record did and all the people that purchased it and all the doors that were open from putting out the CD, so I’m eternally grateful.
