Kirsten Haglund, Miss America of 2008, will be the featured guest at “An Elegant Affair of Roses and Royalty” which includes an afternoon tea luncheon and fashion show. The event takes place Thursday, May 15 from noon to 3:00 pm at the Glen Oaks Country Club in Farmington Hills. The afternoon will be filled with delicious treats, shopping and fashion and proceeds from this event will go to the Kirsten Haglund Foundation, a charity that provides assistance and financial aid to those who are seeking treatment from eating disorders.

Afternoon tea will be served under the direction of Linda Pudlik, a local tea specialist who began hosting teas at various venues in Farmington Hills (Haglund’s hometown), the year Haglund was crowned Miss America. Pudlik hosted a tea in Haglund’s honor, inviting her mother as a featured speaker and the families have remained close ever since.

Pudlik, reached for an interview this weekend, selected the menu for the upcoming tea luncheon. “Unlike an afternoon tea where you are served light fare with finger sandwiches, we have carefully chosen a savory tea/luncheon that will be satisfying and filling," says Pudlik.

In addition to afternoon tea, there will be a market with a variety of specialty vendors and items for auction, as well as live music and a fashion show. Haglund will give sing and give a brief presentation.

Aside from all the fun festivities, guests will also be supporting the Kirsten Haglund Foundation charity. Linda Pudlik knows first hand how important the foundation is to the Haglund family.

"Knowing how much Kirsten and her family really do feel for the joy people experience and the pain people suffer," says Pudlik, "I knew this is one charity that sets out to accomplish what they say they will. Her accomplishments never made her forget that she is human and her aim is to share and shed the love for life. Her motto is 'Love Your Body... Rock the World', and she does."

General ticket prices are $65 which include the luncheon and fashion show. VIP tickets, at $115, are also available, which along with all the items that are part of the general ticket, also include: an hour meet and greet with Miss America 2008 and Miss Michigan 2013, professional photo with Miss America, a glass of champagne and reserved runway seating.
