Charges dropped against Union Square police abuse victim and other crime news

Prosecutors will drop charges against Union Square police abuse victim Christopher Taylor. Peter Hermann of the Sun does a nice job explaining the current situation here. It looks like our "friends" at the State's Attorney's office are up to their classic ways and are using this situation as an opportunity to deflect blame for justice system problems away from them and on to the police department. I am no fan of blame games, but the police could have easily avoided this mess.

Christopher Taylor is not letting this end though. He has started the BMore United organization.  The Bmore United web site states the following:

  • BMU is committed to ending the abuse of power by the elected local government.
  • BMU is committed to ending the abuse of power by police.
  • BMU is committed to ending the abuse of power by corporations.
  • BMU endeavors to strengthen its local community through continued dialogue, non violent engagement, and providing for those in need.

The City Paper just came out with their yearly murder issue. Check out the sad statistics here.

Seem like something out of tombstone. Maybe it is time to call some real gunfighters back like Paladin "HAVE GUN-WILL TRAVEL" that will take up the cause and protect the people for once. Gadgets, equipment, police cars won't do it. It takes getting out walking the beat and getting to have a repoire with the people. With out that the gunslingers in the neighborhoods will continue to intimidate and control the neighborhoods. Don't expect the SAO to prosecute, they are so bog down it is pathetic.
