Chargers still breathing, need help to snag AFC wild card spot

Although they are still alive for an AFC Wild Card spot heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the San Diego Chargers still find themselves needing assistance.

With their 26-13 win at home this past Sunday, the Chargers breathed some more life into their playoff hopes. Even with the victory, however, the Bolts are far from a lock.

Heading into this Sunday's action, San Diego needs several things to happen to reach the AFC playoffs for the first time in four years. They include:

* Miami (8-7) lose at home to the New York Jets;

* Baltimore (8-7) lose on the road in Cincinnati;

* San Diego (8-7) defeat Kansas City at home.

More than likely (minus overtimes), the Chargers will know their playoff hopes before they kick off against the Chiefs (11-4), this given that both Miami and Baltimore play early games.

In the wildest of scenarios, losses by the Dolphins, Ravens and Chargers, coupled with a Pittsburgh (7-8) win versus Cleveland, would give the Steelers the last AFC playoff ticket.

Yes, it should certainly be an interesting day come Sunday.
