Chargers looking to tab McCoy as next head coach

Other than crossing a few t's and dotting a few i's, it appears the San Diego Chargers have their new man to replace Norv Turner as head coach.

Multiple reports Tuesday morning indicated that Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy will be the next Chargers' head coach.

Like new general manager Tom Telesco, McCoy is 40 years old, and also knows the AFC well.

In his first campaign together with Peyton Manning, Denver went from a power running offense (164.5 yards per game) to a high-tempo passing attack (283 yards per game). Unfortunately for the Broncos, they were ousted last Saturday in the AFC Divisional round, suffering a 38-35 overtime loss at home to Baltimore.

Prior to arriving in Denver after the 2008 season, McCoy was on the staff of the Carolina Panthers from 2000-08.

A native Californian, McCoy will get to see his former team twice a year, that being of course that the Broncos and Chargers share space in the AFC West.
