Chargers face Giant task in keeping playoff hopes alive

See also

If the San Diego Chargers are to keep their faint AFC wild card playoff hopes alive, it will mean beating Eli Manning and the New York Giants at home today.

The Chargers, who currently sit at 5-7 and behind Baltimore (6-6) for the last playoff spot in the AFC, play the second of four home games this month. The first home date in December did not go too well for the Bolts, a 17-10 loss last weekend to the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals.

A win on Sunday would be huge, especially given the fact that the Chargers must travel on a short week to the Mile High City and battle Denver Thursday evening (Dec. 12).

Meantime, the Giants have been on a roll, winners of five of their last six games. That roll has enhanced New York's outside chances of grabbing a spot in the NFC playoffs next month.
