Makers of fine wines, spirits and a delightful Green Tea Aperitif, this year Charbay celebrates its 30th anniversary of beverage production in the United States. To commemorate the event and accomplishment, Charbay Clear Vodka is being launched in a brand new limited edition bottle.
"Same classic vodka; modern new look." states the press release. This, and indeed many things bring to mind a favorite, if not entirely related claim by the Spirit Journal's Paul Pacult:
If you haven’t tried Charbay, your life has a huge hole in it.
That you may not suffer through an empty existence, we have gathered several Charbay specialty cocktail recipes, containing Charbay's commemorative clear vodka, and a couple of our preferred flavored offerings:
A mere stone's throw from Charbay Distillery in St. Helena, CA, Tra Vigne Restaurant has created the simple, yet sublime Charbay Hound. An excellent, and, again, easy, twist on the classic greyhound, this Charbay version will have you questioning why you thought you didn't like grapefruit:
Charbay Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka
Heering Cheery liqueur
grapefruit, juice and garnish
Combine liquids in shaker. Shake. Garnish. Pour as martini or over ice. Drink. See? Easy.
A little further down the road, Temple Grill, in New Haven, CT, is keen enough to pour Charbay as part of their French Martini, then put their specialty drinks menu on line so we can find it:
Charbay Clear Vodka
Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur
pineapple juice and garnish
Combine as above. A French Martini is meant to be consumed, well, as a martini, though no one worth worrying about is going to fault you for putting ice in it if you want to.
