Not looking forward to (or enjoying) the law job fray? If you're looking for a practical alternative in the meanwhile, LLM programs aren't just for law prof hopefuls.
Chapman University School of Law has an all-new Trial Advocacy Residency LL.M. program that will begin this Fall. In addition to the new Trial Advocacy Residency program, the law school will also be launching three other new LLM programs: Business Law & Economics, Entertainment & Media Law and International & Comparative Law.
The Trial Advocacy program will include a 15-week "residency" in a criminal agency or law firm. The residency will see students in the program "routinely make court appearances and handle other pretrial matters. Most will also try at least one complete jury trial." Attorneys must be licensed by the California Bar to participate in the second semester residency program."
The Chapman Trial Advocacy LLM program will be a great way for licensed attorneys, seasoned or new admittees, to gain experience in and learn the ropes of trial practice. This could also be a good alternative to jumping into the trenches of a struggling job market and a practical head start with trial experience could be invaluable.
Chapman University is located in Orange, California, in the greater Los Angeles Area.
