Everywhere you go there is always some new diet fad or magic pill that promises you will be a size two in record time, making the decision to either look swim suit savvy or improve your overall health. I can admit to being a victim of my own insecurities about my weight and I am living proof that if you want to lose weight and feel good about yourself you have to first change your life! This includes increasing the amount of fresh vegetables and fruits and reducing the amount of sugar, salt, and fat. You won’t be skinny in record time but you will start to shed pounds and inches slowly and safely while also giving your body the nutrients that it needs. If you are like me and absolutely hate vegetables than I would suggest trying smoothies. The main reason why people don’t consume the recommended daily amount of vegetables is because of the taste. Trying to swallow something that taste like cardboard would turn any respectable adult into a whinny three year old. My recommendation is that you try smoothies. Just pop some vegetables in with fresh fruits, water, or almond milk add a little honey and push blend and Wah-lah!

Here are my top three favorite recipes. Put bad habits behind you and raise your glasses to a new and healthier you!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water or almond milk
  • ½ lime, peeled
  • ½ lemon, peeled
  • 1 cucumber, with peel
  • 3 basil
  • 3 mint leaves
  • 2 cups spinach
  • ginger to taste (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon pure honey (optional)

Directions

  1. Make sure all ingredients are washed thoroughly.
  2. Put all ingredients into high powered blender (Vitamix, Blendtec, Nutribullet, etc...)
  3. Blend until all ingredients are broken down and have a smooth texture.

  • 2 cups of spinach
