Changing Faces Theater Company stages "The Wizard of Oz" at Jessie's Grove

If it's summertime in Lodi, it must be time for another summer production by Changing Faces theater Company at Jessie's Grove Winery! This year's production is "The Wizard of Oz," showing for one week in July. This year, CFTC is doing things a little bit differently. For the first time in their thirteen year history, there are two shows being done.

William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" recently wrapped up it's one week run, playing from June 18-21. It was their smallest cast ever. In an interesting twist, the directors of "The Wizard of Oz," Mike Bartram and Natalie Willis, were on stage as Sir Andrew Aguecheek and Olivia, being directed by wife and sister Sabrina Wills-Bartram. Half of the actors onstage in "Twelfth Night" will go on to perform in "The Wizard of Oz" next month.

"The Wizard of Oz" will run for four nights, from July 16 to 19. All four nights there will be a dinner and a show for forty dollars. Dinner is catered by Wholey Ravioli in Galt. There will be Jessie's Grove wines available for purchase to enjoy with dinner, and during intermission, as well as a concession stand selling popcorn snacks and other beverages. On Wednesday and Thursday, there is a show-only option available for twenty dollars. Gates open at 6:30, and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Call the box office at 209 327-2754 to be put on the will call list. It is highly recommended that you call ahead to insure proper head counts for dinner.

If you have never been to an event at Jessie's Grove Winery, you are in for a treat! The stage is usually host to several concerts during the summer, with acts ranging from country to blues to rock (as a matter of fact, the next concert on June 28 is "Department of Rock" - call 209-368-0880 for tickets to that show!). The venue is entirely outdoors, so bring either a blanket to lay on or low-backed lawn chairs to sit in. It's also a good idea to bring a light jacket or a blanket, as it can get a little cool once the sun goes down and the Delta breeze blows in. They also suggest a can of bug spray, as the mosquitoes do like a good meal once the sun goes down!
