Changes at Golden Valley Charter School

As many of you know we have a few great charter schools serving our valley's homeschoolers.

One of these schools is Golden Valley Charter School.  I am writing to let you know about some changes to their reporting starting this fall.

The procedure will be different for learning records.  You will be projecting up front vs. reporting after the learning is done.   They feel that it will be a time saver for the families and the ESs (Educational Specialists.  In addition to this, it is a good thing to have an idea of where one is going with teaching in general, so there is some structure and forethought, according to one Golden Valley ES.

As for documentation and finishing or not what is projected on your monthly plan, it's not something that you will be penalized for.  This is just meant to be an upfront plan of action about what you (and your ES) have a vision for
doing over the next 20 days of school.  For example, if you put down that "Sally" will complete daily math lessons #1-20, but she only gets through 15, that's fine.  The ES will make a note just to keep the plan accurate in her records, and then you would readjust the next plan to reflect that you're starting at lesson 15 and moving on.  It's meant to be general overall, and a little more specific only if the plans are really vague, or you are not using a textbook that is clearly working toward standards and organized into chapters; a little more might need to be said to give the picture of what the plans are.
