LOCUST GROVE, GA – Henry County schools Work-Based Learning Student of the Month for September 2013 is Chandler Tyburski, a senior at Luella High School, and is employed at Cannon Express of McDonough where he serves in a supervisor capacity.
“Work-Based Learning helps people recognize their own strengths and weaknesses for the workplace,” shared Tyburski. “The program allows the student to feel a sense of the real world and how life will be outside of high school.”
Tyburski plans to attend the University of Georgia after graduation, to attain degrees in business administration and business law.
“He takes his school work and job seriously,” said Sandra Braswell, Work-Based Learning Instructional Leader at Luella High School. Braswell also shared a sampling of Tyburski’s extracurricular activities.
“He performs community service by volunteering his time to supervise the concession stand at Luella Middle School, and he is an active member of Future Business Leaders of America, where he serves as treasurer.”
Bryan Chipman of Cannon Express shared, “Chandler is a very bright young man with a good work ethic,” noting. “He was able to step in and perform the duties that were asked of him in less time than expected.” Chipman also recognized the strong partnership formed between his company and Luella High School.
While at Cannon Express Tyburski is gaining experience giving him a better understanding of some of the things he can bring to the workforce, as well as some of the things he needs to improve upon before starting his career.
