Ostriches may not be the first thing you think of when you picture Arizona. Yet for three days, March 12th thru the 14th, they rule the city of Chandler during the official city Ostrich Festival.
Ostriches rule the roost from the Ostrich Festival Parade down Arizona Avenue to Chicago Street to the Ostrich races with human jockeys in Tumbleweed Park. You can sample an Ostrich burger or purchase Ostrich feathers - all in commemoration of the giant bird and Chandler's ostrich ranching history.
That's only the beginning of the fun.
Ostrich Days also offers two full stages of entertainment with jugglers, stunts, music comedian's, dancers, martial art displays and more. Enjoy the excitement of Medieval Jousting (on horseback, not ostriches), pig races, petting zoos and the Kids Zone with games, bounce rides and other activities. In the evening the Community stage becomes a bandstand and dance floor taking you into the night right up to the midnight closing.
The festivities begin on Friday, March 12th from 2:00pm to Midnight with the gates opening on Saturday at 10:00am thru Midnight. Sunday hours are 10:00am to 11:00pm with free admission all three days.
The Ostrich Days grounds are located at Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Street in Chandler (the intersections of McQueen & Germaine Road).
