Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. All stats for the week may not be included if they were not sent in with the nomination.
2012/2013 Winter season- Week 13- February 25th-March 2nd
Female
Chandler Guerrette- Presque Isle- Basketball- Scored 33 points including 14 in the fourth quarter to lead the Wildcats to a 51-44 state title victory over Lake Region. The Wildcats have won the last two class B girls state championships and only lost two games during Guerrette's four years on the team. She is a Miss Maine basketball semifinalist.
Runner up
Mackenzie Worcester- Washburn- Basketball- Recorded 20 points (including her 1000 career point), eight steals, seven assists and five rebounds in 75-55 state championship victory over Richmond.
Other nominations
Taylorae Carter- Calais- Basketball- Scored 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in 59-55 loss to Waynflete in the class C state final.
