Every year, sometime in August, the best figure skaters in the USA come to the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado for US Figure Skating's Champs Camp. All figure skaters (and their primary coaches) in the USA who have been assigned to compete in a Grand Prix of Figure Skating competition are required to attend.
Participants perform their short program and free skate program or their short dance, and free dance. They also socialize, participate in workships, have fun, and also are addressed by inspirational athletic speakers. The camp's goal is to help prepare the best figure skaters in the United States for the upcoming competition season.
The Champs Camp sessions are not open to the public, but ice skating fans in Colorado Springs have reported that sometimes they get a chance to see their figure favorite skaters in the lobby of the World Arena Ice Hall at the Broadmoor World Arena during the event.
