For those who do not know, Champlain College is composed of 21 on campus resident’s halls, The Spinner Place Apartment Complex in Winooski, and now includes the Quarry Hill East Condominiums to the mix as of fall 2010.

Quarry Hill is located in South Burlington, just past the University of Vermont campus, overlooking route 2. The new apartment complex was dubbed the Undeclared Undergraduate residence hall late this summer, or as Champlain simply calls it: The Quarry Hill Program.

It is an apartment style living complex, and Champlain provides two in building Residential Assistants, and one Area Director, a typical on site staff combination in all Champlain resident’s halls, however they throw in a few of Champlain Faculty members into the building as an added resource for new freshman.

With an on-site support staff, for a per semester charge of $3,665; Students will share a fully furnished two double bedroom, 1-2 bathroom, living room and kitchen apartment. Covered utilities include electric, heat, internet, cable, and no-fee parking lot (there are a limited amount of passes however). Along with a choice of purchasing a full, partial, or no meal plan, it truly is the most flexible campus provided living opportunity Champlain has produced thus far. Not to mention the free campus to apartment school provided shuttle system that runs during the most needed hours for students.

It is an unorthodox move for Champlain College to have freshman living off campus (though not at all unheard of), but due to record high housing request both from incoming and returning students this year. The college decided to utilize the new Quarry complex so they could aptly accommodate more incoming freshman with little complication.
