The tables are embossed with a cute paw print at the Lazy Dog Café, it’s a gesture meant to add further comfort to the establishment. It works! Their menus cover dishes from Italy, South America, China and France, what a selection.
The lunch specials provide a wide assortment of combinations that are served quickly for those with limited time. Otherwise you can enjoy your meal without being rushed. Try the salad and thin crust pizza or a soup and sandwich combination for starters. The open bar is inviting and ready to serve a full meal, while you enjoy a cocktail, beer or a martini.
If you prefer the patio area on a sunny day, you can have your lunch outside. There’s a great selection for everyone to choose from like the wok and rice plates of Kung Pao, Sweet and Spicy to Teriyaki and Orange Peel. Even the kids have their own menu for small dogs or puppy dogs.
For you big dogs there’s a full beer list that reads like a who’s who of breweries. Wine lovers can enjoy a glass or a bottle. There are also House specialties for cocktails; I tried the champagne mojito which went well with my Caesar salad and pizza.
If you haven’t already visited the Lazy Dog Café, you should! It’s located in the Tustin Market Place, on the Irvine side, off of Jamboree, just north of the 5 freeway at 13290 Jamboree Rd, Irvine, CA 92602.
Here’s a quick and easy Caesar Salad Recipe that you can make in your own kitchen:
Ingredients:
- 1 head of Romaine Lettuce – chopped
- 1 cup croutons
- 1 cup parmesan cheese - ½ for the dressing and ½ for the salad
Dressing
- ½ lemon juice
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard - optional the original dressing recipe calls for a dash of worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- 1 egg or 1/4 cup of mayonnaise - if you are concerned about using a raw egg use mayonnaise instead
- Salt & pepper
Preparation:
Place your chopped lettuce in a bowl or on a dish. Mix up the dressing and drizzle the dressing over the lettuce. Sprinkle with the remaining parmesan cheese and top the salad with croutons. Salt and pepper, toss and serve!
Enjoy!
