'Chalice' magazine explores themes of life and faith

Cover of Chalice magazine January 2014 issue.

The literary magazine Chalice was born out of a Story Year project at the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church near Cleveland. A wide spectrum of the congregation focused on telling their own stories. Members of the congregation launched Chalice as a medium for sharing these stories.

With fiction, non-fiction, poetry, interviews, art, and photography collected around a monthly theme, the magazine has been a hit within the West Shore congregation, and a great way to get to know each other better. Now Chalice is reaching out to the entire UUA Ohio-Meadville District (and beyond) to ask for creative content for future issues.

The theme of the upcoming issue is "Love Reaches Out." Previous monthly themes have included "Telling the Truth" and "Mountaintop Moments." A PDF copy of the January 2014 issue is available here.

A one-year subscription to Chalice is available for $20 (includes cost of postage). Monetary contributions for individual copies of the magazine are appreciated but not required.

If you are interested in contributing poetry, fiction, non-fiction, interviews, art, or photography, send an email to to find out about upcoming monthly themes. Here are some submission guidelines:
