Chaka Khan at Trop promises a hot Saturday night

If the cold weather here in South Jersey is getting you down and you'd like to do something about it, head on down to the showroom at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City Saturday night, January 21st.  At promptly 9pm, one of the hottest performers of this Examiner's lifetime is guaranteed to warm you up fast.  Ladies and gents, Chaka Khan is in the house!  Is your disco ball ready?

Chaka Khan is one of those performers with natural staying power.  She has been entertaining us since the 1970s with the band Rufus.  Breaking away in the 80s, her star power continued to climb with hits like Tell Me Something Good, I'm Every Woman and I Feel For You.  She has performed with the likes of Prince, Stevie Wonder, Barry White and many of the hottest blues/R&B artists in the world.  Through it all, she has seamlessly morphed from one decade to the next, pleasing audiences with her wonderful voice and musical style.

Although Chaka Khan has dabbled in movies and TV, her strength remains her vocal talent.  Her shows are exciting, entertaining and just hot!  The show at the Trop will be no exception.  Expect to hear all of her hits from her 30-year music career, as well as new songs and covers.

She's not just a voice either.  This talented lady established a charity in the late 90s called the Chaka Khan Foundation, which works at ending domestic violence, substance abuse, and autism.  To find out why these subjects are so near and dear to her, read her autobiography, Chaka!:  Through the Fire.  She's been through a lot and yet, through it all, she sang!  She has a statement on the Chaka Khan Foundation Web site that says,

"I realize that I can't change the world, but I can do my part in contributing to society. If I leave this world knowing that I've helped one woman break the cycle of addiction and abuse; that one child has believed enough to get the education he/she deserves, then I can rest in peace."

Tickets begin at $40 and can be obtained from Ticketmaster for the Greater Philly area.
