According to an Aug. 17 post from Bleacher Report, three-time title challenger Chael Sonnen insulted Joe Rogan during his UFC Fight Night 26 post-fight speech, before ultimately accepting a challenge against Brazilian legend, Vitor Belfort.
“I’m the man of the hour, too sweet to be sour. What you see is what you get and what you don’t is better yet. I’m the women’s pick, I’m the men’s regret and if you pick against Chael Sonnen you made a bad bet,” Sonnen said during his post-fight interview Rogan, seconds after finishing "Shogun" Rua.
Sonnen, 36, then took it upon himself to throw a little insult Rogan's way, as he ripped into the comedian's age.
"Right here on the UFC's new home, FOX Sports 1, Wanderlei Silva, 6 feet tall and 205 pounds," Sonnen continued. "Boy, until I met you, I didn't know they could stack crap that high.
"Woah, woah woah Joe I will let you know when I'm done, Joe," Sonnen said as Rogan pulled the mic away from his face. "I just got done with a world champion. If you think I'm going to let a middle-aged comedian just for the goddamn pleasure of it, you better think again. Wanderlei Silva, three months you and the bad guy!"
At present time, it isn't clear if Sonnen was joking around or if he was truly upset with Rogan for his controversial post-fight actions. Rogan is 46 years old, so it's probably true that he is hovering around the middle age mark.
He never really did anything wrong to Sonnen, which makes the situation quite bizarre. Perhaps Rogan was in on the joke, otherwise it doesn't make much sense.
Nevertheless, the Sonnen vs Rogan feud was quickly forgotten just moments later, as Vitor Belfort took to Twitter to call out the Oregonian.
"I'm in, if Vitor said my name first, I'm in. That's all you have to do is say my name, you do not have to ask me twice," Sonnen said of Belfort. "I'm like Beyonce's child—say my name, say my name."
The UFC hasn't officially announced if Sonnen will take on Silva or Belfort next, but either one would be a fun fight for the fans.
