Shortly after finishing Rua, Sonnen called out Wanderlei Silva in his post-fight speech, before Rogan interrupted him. At present time, it isn't clear if Sonnen was joking around or if he was truly upset with Rogan for his controversial post-fight actions.
“I’m the man of the hour, too sweet to be sour. What you see is what you get and what you don’t is better yet. I’m the women’s pick, I’m the men’s regret and if you pick against Chael Sonnen you made a bad bet,” Sonnen said during his post-fight interview Rogan.
Sonnen then took it upon himself to throw a little insult Rogan's way, as he ripped into the comedian's age.
"Right here on the UFC's new home, FOX Sports 1, Wanderlei Silva, 6 feet tall and 205 pounds," Sonnen continued. "Boy, until I met you, I didn't know they could stack crap that high.
"Woah, woah woah Joe I will let you know when I'm done, Joe," Sonnen said as Rogan pulled the mic away from his face. "I just got done with a world champion. If you think I'm going to let a middle-aged comedian just for the goddamn pleasure of it, you better think again. Wanderlei Silva, three months you and the bad guy!"
Sonnen's jab at Rogan didn't make much sense, but the comments he directed at Silva were quite fitting.
Sonnen and Silva have been barking at each other for months. With Sonnen's victory at UFC Fight Night 26, it appears Silva could be next in line to face him.
"Anytime you're in the top 10, you're in title contention," said Sonnen, who is ranked sixth among middleweights by ESPN.com and ninth by UFC.com. "We have a new ranking system and it's very important to operate within the confines of that system.
"Anybody in the top five will go for that title. Shogun is in the top 10 [at light heavyweight] and I haven't won a light heavyweight fight in a considerable amount of time. With that said, I have had only one light heavyweight fight. But it's always important to win, especially if you can beat a top-10 guy.
"Shogun is a true legend; he's a former world champion. He's the guy [Jon] Jones beat to win the title. And he's ranked No. 8 in the world [at 205 pounds by UFC.com]. So I have a lot of reasons and motivations to win, aside from my pride and ego."
Hopefully Sonnen will continue the trash-talking with the fighters, and leave poor Joe Rogan alone.
