Chad Daniels at Go Bananas in Cincinnati

“I'm a 34 year-old man that hasn't decided who he wants to be when he grows up,” says comedian Chad Daniels. His wife, on the other hand, has very grown-up career. She’s genetics professor. Is it tough being married to someone so brainy? “It's not too bad.” He says. “We've known each other since fifth grade, so she knew what she was getting into. We went to Costa Rica for one of the classes she teaches. She was talking to some other scientists and I was like ‘holy crap, she's smarter than I thought.’ She obviously dumbs it down for me at home. Whatever works.”

On stage Daniels gives audiences a glimpse into his life and experiences. “I'm telling the audience stories about me,” he explains, and how I react to situations. Whether it be realizing loving your family doesn't mean you're still not a horrible dad, or wishing AIDS on a police officer that pulled you over.” For now, he has no grand plans of going into television or film. “I just want to keep doing (stand-up). I'm not going to change the world with my comedy, but writing jokes has helped me put some perspective into my own life.”

Indeed comedy is all he ever wanted to do, and he hardly considered the fringe benefits. “It would have been nice if I could have used it to get laid,” he says, “but I got my girlfriend, now wife, pregnant six months into it. So I guess it did get me laid, but that's not really want I meant.”

Chad Daniels performs a Go Bananas Thursday October 22 through Sunday October 25
