Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen in Brea continues the tradition of giving back

Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen is gearing up for their second annual holiday toy-drive to benefit local families in need. Beginning in this month, guests are encouraged to drop off a new unwrapped toy at Cha Cha's in exchange for a $20 gift card to be redeemed in the New Year. The restaurant is located in Downtown Brea.

Last year more than150 toys were generously donated. Once all the toys were collected and wrapped, Cha Cha's hosted a special evening for these families that included a meal featuring signature dishes. More than 50 guests enjoyed a very touching evening that concluded with a visit from Santa Claus who spent time passing out gifts to the children.

Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen has hosted many fundraising events with an emphasis on helping the local community since opening its doors in 2009. Recipients of this giving tradition have included The Mobile Closet, a local charity that provides clothing and blankets for families in need, and individuals such as a mother with stage-three breast cancer, and a beloved bartender who is now cancer free.

During Cha Cha’s four-year anniversary in November, more than $1,000 was raised donated to The Mobile Closet whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty through dignity and generosity.

These events were developed by Don Myers and Peter Serantoni, the owners of Cha Cha's, who feel strongly about giving back to their local community.

"Since we opened in 2009 we have been overwhelmed by the response of the community and the relationships we've created," said Myers. "It feels great to be able to give back to people in our own backyard and say thank you for all the support."

Cha Cha’s offers a California-Latin inspired menu by adapting the culinary heritage of Mexico and Latin America to a fresh modern style. It is located at 110 W. Birch St. 714-255-1040.
