The kick off starts with the Model4Jesus VIP reception Friday, Feb. 8 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center, 14301 Nine Eagles Drive. Guests will interact wth industry VIPs, designers from around the world, models, photographers, enjoy appetizers and participate in a silent auction.
The Christian Fashion Show is to follow on Saturday, Feb 9 to be held at LSA Hall, 4810 N. Howard Ave. with a swimwear fashion show starting at 6 p.m. followed by the Christian Fashion Week Fashion Show. Doors open at 5 p.m.
The purpose of the Christian Fashion Show is to promote and respect moderate styles instead of the accustumed ‘sexy’ styles for the Christian community. Diversity and different world cultures will be represented as nine fashion designers will have the task to fulfill not only their aspiration but also of the CFW organizers.
Of the nine designers, four are from the Tampa Bay area - Alma Vidovic will launch her first bridal collection; Julia Chew her Xiaolin line is best known for its hand sewn couture garments; Sandra Hagen's Designs are all about well crafted pieces done right with an emphasis in color, prints and textures; Sumita Bhojwani clothes and designs derive inspiration from ethnic Indian culture which include a diverse blend of design elements from India with fusion wear.
Others participating are Carmelita Couture who stated her purpose as, "I want to dress a woman into her true identity and help her walk in a new form of fashion fierceness"; Evelyn Lambert is a New York based designer born in Zimbabwe; Venezuelan Franco Montoro has dressed a few Miss Universe candidate winners; Pat Mc Ghee who will be dressing the male models stated, "Showcasing my talents and skills in a menswear collection for the strong, hard working man who cares to look fashionably good." And last but not least will be swimwear designer Renee Scarborough with her Two Coconuts Swimwear line, the swimwear runway will be for female only viewing.
