On Monday night, June 14th, First Lady Michelle Obama received the Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award, given by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This special tribute is given by CFDA to acknowledge significant contributions and commitments to fashion. Mrs. Obama received the award for her support and dedication to American designers.
Mrs. Obama accepted this award through a previously taped message sent from the White House. “The ingenuity and craftsmanship of American designers contributes so much to our economy and to our culture,” she stated, “To both legends and the future legends, I am honored to celebrate your craft with you tonight. And on behalf of men and women everywhere, I want to thank you all for making fashion liberating, inspiring, but most of all, fun.”
