Century Doubles, SMCBA Women's, Prove It events are scheduled this month

The third Bobby Combs Century Doubles tournament of the current season will take place on Sunday, March 16, at Treasure Lanes in Port Charlotte.

The event features a unique format, with all doubles teams consisting of partners whose combined ages total 100 or more as of the tournament date. Each team will roll three handicap (90 percent of 220) games.

Competition will begin at 2 p.m., and the cost is $30 per doubles team. The fee breakdown consists of $12 for lineage, $14 into the prize fund and $4 earmarked for the Sarasota-Manatee Youth Scholarship Fund.

In addition, an optional Alibi Doubles competition -- at a cost of $10, or $5 per bowler -- gives each entrant the opportunity to combine scores bowled by other tournament entrants for placement in a separate prize fund.

Pre-entries are requested, but walk-ins will be accepted on the tournament date, but such entrants must register at least 45 minutes prior to starting time.

SMCBA Women's Open tournament scheduled March 22-23

The Sarasota-Manatee County USBC Bowling Association will conduct its annual Women's Open Championship Tournament at Sarasota Lanes on the weekend of March 22-23.

Saturday squad times on Saturday, March 22, will be at noon and 4 p.m., and there will be only one squad on Sunday, March 23, beginning at 1 p.m. Entry fee will be $20 per woman per event, plus an optional handicap (90 percent of 220) all-events at a cost of $5.

Four-player team event will be contested in one classification, while doubles will be in two average categories (326-over and 325-under) and singles will also be in two average divisions (165-over and 164-under). Multiple participation will be permitted in team event only, but no more than three individuals can compete together on more than one team.

Next Prove It Challenge: March 23 at AMF Gulf Gate

The next Prove It Scratch Challenge tournament will take place at AMF Gulf Gate on Sunday, March 23, with check-in from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., and practice beginning at 1:15 p.m.
