Century 21 Redwood Realty transforms into an Artist Open House Jan27@6pm

Century 21 Redwood Realty under the direction and artistic vision of Wesley Mosser (urban neighborhood alliance and co-chair of capital pride festival) launches new DMV Artist Open House series.

Every couple of months, Century 21 Redwood Realty, Dupont location will be transformed into an art gallery and showcase original artwork by a selected artist. Wes Mosser notes that the first floor of the building was designed as both a public level and an art gallery, supporting local artists and providing a beautiful space to display artwork. There is no fee to artists.

The concept is well known yet, the cause is greater.

In return, Century 21 Redwood Realty asks for a donation of a small portion of sales to benefit Easter Seals and local charity of artist’s choice. This month features the Trevor Project by Kreg D. Kelley.

Mosser notes, "The Trevor Project really hits home with me because I think as a young gay person, we were all teased and bullied in some way. Back then there wasn't a place to turn to, you had to keep it inside and hope for the best. I am glad we now have organizations like The Trevor Project. Many lives will be changed forever for the better! When I first heard of The Trevor Project and read their mission statement, I was overwhelmed that society has progressed this far and that we now have organizations that are actually geared towards helping LGBTQ youth. It makes my heart smile that one day every young person will know what The Trevor Project is and that they have the resources to help. Bravo to The Trevor Project!"

Kreg D. Kelley, a well-known contemporary artist, kicks off 2012 with New Works on Canvas 2012 on Friday, January 27th from 6-9pm, featuring over 30 unique original pieces.
Kelley is not new to the art scene and is widely recognized in the art world. He won his first art award at the age of 12 with the 'Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards Program'. Aside from abstraction and 3D works on canvas, he utilizes damaged antique engravings and artifacts from the 18th - 19th century into his pieces. He also curates for the Galerie Lareuse in Georgetown, specializing in original works on paper by 19th & 20th century masters. Kelly wants his 2012 show to be a fun group event where people can enjoy themselves and enjoy the art.

Kelley is also serious about giving back. Kreg is an avid animal lover. He chose the Trevor Project, Washington Animal Rescue League and the Washington Humane Society, both charities that are close to his heart. In 2012, a portion of all art sales will be divided between these deserving organizations. He says: “I am always looking to support causes that I firmly believe in. Throughout the past years I have donated to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Elizabeth Taylor/Whitman Walker Clinic's Art for Life, Georgetown Pediatrics & the Georgetown Jingle, the Actor's Theater of Washington/Ganymede Arts, & the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Washington, DC”. He feels that all of those charities are ones who help others who may not be able to help themselves.

Admission to the opening is free. Don't miss this opportunity to view and interact with one of the most visible art figures in DMV as well as support Century 21 in this initiative!
You may see Kelly’s artwork on display at many local establishments: Ulah Bistro on U Street, Tonic, Mount Pleasant & Last Exit in Mt. Pleasant, and Galerie Lareuse in Georgetown to name just a few. Visit www.KregDKelley.com for more information.
