Central Red Devils cheerleaders win Eastern Maine championship

The Central Red Devils cheerleading squad won the Eastern Maine championship on Saturday afternoon at Cross Insurance Center.

It was the Red Devils first regional title since 2000.

One week ago, Central won the PVC championship.

On February 8th, the Red Devils will compete in the class C state championship.

They will be going for their second state title in three years.

The members of the Red Devils Eastern Maine title team include. seniors- Kassidy Chase, Billie-Jo Hurd, Cassidy McNerney, Melyssa Prescott, and Hillary Williams.

The juniors on the roster include- Kailey Buswell, Autumn Preble, and Elizabeth Wittine.

The six sophomores are - Katrina Bowden, Taylor Buswell, Ciearria Cookson, Kelsey Osnoe, Kiera Rush, and Kaitlyn Taylor.

Cristy Strout and Whitney Susee are co-coaches for the Red Devils.

They have a strong group of freshmen that include- Rhianna Bailey, Taylor Emerson, Alicia Halloran, Josie Hare, Chelsea Noddin, Janell Reece, Jamie Smith, and Paige Subjoc.

Central finished with a score of 127.4. Other teams that qualified for the states in class C include runner up Narraguagus (113.3), Houlton (109.8), Sumner (108.8), Orono (106.4), and Dexter (102.7).

Hermon won the class B Eastern Maine title.

Lewiston edged out Bangor to earn the class A regional cheering title.

Central Aroostook earned the class D regional title.
