Mohamed Soltan, an Egyptian-American activist, native of Hilliard, and Ohio State University graduate, has been located in Tora prison and was moved to another police station after his arrest in Egypt, according to the Free Soltan Facebook page.
Soltan was arrested with three other Egyptian youth on August 25 in the midst of a crackdown on protesters against the military-backed interim government that took power after former president Mohamed Morsi was deposed.
Soltan describes himself as a moderate Muslim. According to his childhood friend Kareem El-Hosseiny, Soltan is not a strong supporter of either Mohamed Morsi or the Muslim Brotherhood, but he does oppose the Egyptian military's ousting of a democratically-elected leader.
Please contact your leaders in Congress and ask them to put pressure on the White House and the State Department to demand safe treatment and release of Mohamed Soltan.
