Central, Hermon, Central Aroostook, Biddeford win cheering state titles

The Central Red Devils cheerleading team won the PVC championship and the Eastern Maine championship.

On Saturday afternoon at Augusta Civic Center, the Red Devils capped off an amazing season by winning the class C state title.

Central finished with a score of 117.6 to claim their second state title in the last three years.

The members of the Red Devils Eastern Maine title team include. seniors- Kassidy Chase, Billie-Jo Hurd, Cassidy McNerney, Melyssa Prescott, and Hillary Williams.

The juniors are- Kailey Buswell, Autumn Preble, and Elizabeth Wittine.

The six sophomores include - Katrina Bowden, Taylor Buswell, Ciearria Cookson, Kelsey Osnoe, Kiera Rush, and Kaitlyn Taylor.

Cristy Strout and Whitney Susee are co-coaches for the Red Devils.

The freshmen include- Rhianna Bailey, Taylor Emerson, Alicia Halloran, Josie Hare, Chelsea Noddin, Janell Reece, Jamie Smith, and Paige Subjoc.

Hermon won their fourth consecutive class B state title. The Hawks finished with a score of 148.2.

Central Aroostook continued their dominance of class D cheering, by claiming their sixth state title in seven seasons.

Machias edged out Penobscot Valley high school (PVHS) on a tiebreaker to claim class D runner up.

  5. Deer Isle-Stonington- 95
  6. Fort Fairfield- 91.5

In the class A competition, Biddeford and Marshwood each finished with a score of 158.8.

The first tiebreaker is points deducted. Biddeford did not have any points deducted so they claimed the state title.

Bangor finished third with a score of 149.1.
