“Eating, drinking, nurturing…it’s all Central.” That’s the mission statement behind Central Bistro and Bar in the lower Highlands. The popular restaurant and bar just announced its “Warm Weather” menu items, “Whiskey Wednesday” weekly events, and cocktail specials to beat the heat.
Designed by owner Isiah Salazar, the concrete columns and boxcar materials are complemented with soft, white leather chairs, modern lighting and the “HOT” neon sign on the ceiling; a trademark feature of the restaurant. The outside terrace offers a great view of downtown Denver and al fresco dining.
Dedicated to delivering inspired cuisine which is familiar and satisfying, executive chef Gerard Strong recently launched new "Warm Weather" menu items. Standouts include Watermelon & Capicola Salad with jicama, house lime ricotta and cilantro, Fried Green Tomato BLTA Sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli and house made chips, along with the seasonal Grilled Spring Onions with goat cheese croquette, fava beans and Marcona almonds. http://centralbistrobar.com/menu/
Trending this summer are lower alcohol cocktails. Central’s bar turned out a selection of cocktails with just an ounce of alcohol and house-made ingredients, including Central Paloma Light with El Jimador tequila, grapefruit, lime, soda and mint. During Sunday brunch the bar creates virgin options and the “Morning Restoratives” with seasonal fresh juice.
Summer also brings "Whiskey Wednesdays". Each week, an American whiskey distiller or ambassador will offer an educational seminar regarding process and flavor profiles. Flights are $5 per person. https://www.facebook.com/CentralBistroBar
