Bolstered by the 18 point performance of Porsha Roberts, the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks downed Central Arkansas by the score of 64-59 in round one action of the Southland Conference women’s basketball tournament at the Leonard E. Merrrell Center in Katy, Texas.
SFA held a 10 point lead at the 11:40 mark in the second half, but saw it dwindle to one with 1:05 remaining in the game.
With 14 seconds remaining, UCA’s Jameka Watkins fouled Kali Jerrell; sending her to the free throw line to shoot two.
Jerrell nailed both shots and gave SFA a three point lead.

With the ball bouncing off the rim, Roberts quickly rebounded the arrant shot and was fouled by Watkins.
Roberts sank both her free throws to give SFA their five-point win.
Offensively, the Lady Jacks were 19-for-46 from the field while shooting 15-of-19 from the foul line.
For Central Arkansas, Herbert led all scores with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
With the win, SFA will face off against No. 3 Lamar with a 1:30 p.m. tip-off on Thursday.
