It was reported on Wednesday that guard Wisniewski, who had suffered a sprained right knee, was limited at practice this week and will most likely start. Coach Allen addressed the media after Wednesday’s practice and stated that he was glad that Wiz was back.
Stefen Wisniewski brings a lot of experience in offensive line and is very much used to the scheme that Coach Dennis Allen started with the Raiders. Wiz’s experience will help identify rushes and open up holes for the runners, Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings.
The Other Injuries
Linebacker Kaluka Maiava, hamstring injury, was also limited this week. His participation for Sunday would be needed to provide the assault against the veteran two-time Super Bowl Champion Ben Roethlisberger. It is not known if Maiava will start for sure on Sunday.
Left guard Andre Gurode and right tackle Tony Pashos did not practice this week. Both offensive linesmen could be missed this Sunday.
Coach Allen added that, if needed, Jack Cornell will be signed from the practice squad to help fill the void in the O-line for Sunday’s game. Cornell played with the Saints last year and did a fair job at it.
Coach Dennis Allen also stated that Darren McFadden looks good and is ready to go. If Stefen Wisniewski starts on Sunday, then McFadden could rely on the experienced center to hopefully open up holes and get the running game going once and for all this season.
