Some day’s life really feels like a day at the beach and I’m not talking sunshine, grins and giggles either. Nope, I am talking about the bully that keeps kicking sand in your face, you forgot the suntan lotion and a beach towel; forget about it. Crumbs! I have to say there are just days like that.
So how do we pick the sand out from between our toes and go on? It’s not easy some days, is it? Well, a long, long time ago I found the ultimate self-help expert, Dale Carnegie. A born and raised Missourian that would become the premiere guru on changing one's negative thinking into positive thinking.
Dale Carnegie wrote books on how to reduce stress, build self-confidence, enhance communication and have positive thinking. Carnegie is best known for his books, How to stop worrying and start living, as well as, How to win friends and influence people.
Now, not to add to your stress level but the holidays are just around the corner, the boss is a tyrant, your kids are already making their holiday toy list, the office gossip has now targeted you and your bills are piling up. Stop! Breathe and take a moment for yourself. You now know how to arm yourself so head out to local library and pick up one of Carnegie’s books. Some days just really are all about you.
Carnegie died November 1, 1955 and is buried in the Belton Cemetery. His principles in self-improvement are just as relevant today as they were yesterday. So I part from you with this thought for a very merry holiday season and a happy New Year; make a resolution to yourself that you can keep. Invest in yourself and so to others will follow. See you at the library and most splendid quests to you.
The person who seeks all their applause from outside has their happiness in another's keeping.
