Celine Dion had everyone thinking about the consequences of success on Monday when she shared her thoughts about Whitney Houston’s death on Good Morning America. The entertainer had a connection with the late Whitney Houston and felt compelled to talk about the dark side of show business. In particular, Dion talked about the drugs and partying that the show business influence has seen over the years especially when it comes to big celebrities.
“When you think about Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, to get into drugs like that, for whatever reason,” said Celine Dion on Good Morning America. “Is it because of the stress and bad influence? What happens when you have everything?"
While no cause of death has been given for Whitney Houston, who was found dead in Beverly Hills on Saturday, Dion definitely implied that the underground of Hollywood is sweeping some of the best talent away with influences that have nothing to do with performing. Whether the bad stuff is drugs, alcohol or other negative influences, the stars are aware there is a dark side to success.
“I am so scared,” said Celine Dion. “I’m scared of show business. I’m scared of drugs. I’m scared of hanging out.”
As Celine pointed out there are a number of entertainers who have problems with influences and taking a leap from those negative influences to what caused Houston’s death before the official announcement is a bit premature. However with the common knowledge of Whitney Houston’s past, entertainers have stopped to remind themselves that the fray of the dark side in the entertainment world needs to be avoided at all costs.
