Celine Dion credits her mom for her seeing a musical talent at such a young age. The youngest of 14 children, the international star could still be in Canada at the family’s restaurant if it weren’t for the insight of Dion’s mom. On Thursday morning the superstar opened up about her journey to the top with her fans and shared how grateful she was to her mother.
"Sometimes with my mother’s permission I was singing and sometimes my brother was playing piano on the weekends. People started to come more,” said Celine Dion about her beginnings on the Live with Regis and Kelly Show. “My mom realized that is was a club, a restaurant mainly and people are coming to see her [Celine Dion] and I was 10 years old.”
Instead of allowing her to be the focus of attention, Dion’s mother took an astonishing step to make her daughter a star. Not only did she pursue opportunities to find people in the entertainment business to hear her daughter, she wrote a song for her to sing.
“It was extraordinarily for my mom to be able to write me my first song and sent it to a famous manager and here he is,” shared Celine Dion.
The career of Celine Dion has millions of fans and her shows sell out consistently in Las Vegas. As her mother only did what she thought was best, time has proven Celine Dion is one of the biggest entertainers in North America.
