Is it par for the course for celestial Teachers to accommodate, literally, the human mortal while in the mortal world. In fact, according to Paper 37 of the Urantia Book, it is paramount. Two such celestial personages that fit the “celestial teachers” description are Abraham (father of Isaac) and Mary (of Magdela). These former earth-mortals have been engaged with mortal students in recent years, starting with a group of truth-seekers in Hamilton, New Zealand in the mid-1980s and followed by Abraham, and Mary’s twenty-plus years of such in-depth teachings to a like group in Woods Cross, Utah. What about these celestial "teachers." Are they real or a myth?

6. CELESTIAL OVERSEERS (under the administration of the Melchizedeks)
37:6.1 The Nebadon educational system is jointly administered by the Trinity Teacher Sons and the Melchizedek teaching corps, but much of the work designed to effect its maintenance and upbuilding is carried on by the Celestial Overseers. These beings are a recruited corps embracing all types of individuals connected with the scheme of educating and training the ascending mortals. There are upward of three million of them in Nebadon, and they are all volunteers who have qualified by experience to serve as educational advisers to the entire realm. From their headquarters on the Salvington worlds of the Melchizedeks, these overseers range the local universe as inspectors of the Nebadon school technique designed to effect the mind training and the spirit education of the ascending creatures.
37:6.2This training of mind and education of spirit is carried on from the worlds of human origin up through the system mansion worlds and the other spheres of progress associated with Jerusem, on the seventy socializing realms attached to Edentia, and on the four hundred and ninety spheres of spirit progress encircling Salvington. On the universe headquarters itself are numerous Melchizedek schools, the colleges of the Universe Sons, the seraphic universities, and the schools of the Teacher Sons and the Union of Days. Every possible provision is made to qualify the various personalities of the universe for advancing service and improving function. The entire universe is one vast school.
37:6.3 The methods employed in many of the higher schools are beyond the human concept of the art of teaching truth, but this is the keynote of the whole educational system: character acquired by enlightened experience. The teachers provide the enlightenment; the universe station and the ascender’s status afford the opportunity for experience; the wise utilization of these two augments character.
37:6.4 Fundamentally, the Nebadon educational system provides for your assignment to a task and then affords you opportunity to receive instruction as to the ideal and divine method of best performing that task. You are given a definite task to perform, and at the same time you are provided with teachers who are qualified to instruct you in the best method of executing your assignment. The divine plan of education provides for the intimate association of work and instruction. We teach you how best to execute the things we command you to do.
37:6.5 The purpose of all this training and experience is to prepare you for admission to the higher and more spiritual training spheres of the superuniverse. Progress within a given realm is individual, but transition from one phase to another is usually by classes.
37:6.7 Before leaving the universe of Nebadon, most Urantia mortals will be afforded opportunity to serve for a longer or shorter time as members of the Nebadon corps of Celestial Overseers.
Much of the Urantia Book family refute the idea that the Celestial Overseers are alive and well in today's world. “We have our updated book about God and the universe and we have our Inner Guide, and we need no more,” seems to be their mantra. Though there are many charlatans and bogus claims throughout the world and likewise within the Urantia Book adherents, the Woods Cross Utah Urantia Book study group claims a live and real experience with such Celestial Overseers, “teachers” from on high. A few excerpts from Abraham regarding these Celestial overseers, Teachers:
I love being a teacher in this Correcting Time. I’ve spent many years in study to hold the position that I do. I know that as Teachers we are required to freshen our teaching plans and upgrade to meet whatever evolving world we may be teaching.
In this age of technology we are finding mortals to be learning at a rapid rate. We are continuously, as teachers, upgrading our education. If we are to set an example for you it must be current and flowing with the Correcting Time.
As the world has grown so has the Supreme Being. I cannot fully understand it myself. As you grow as a part of the cosmic mind information goes to the Supreme Being that is our God in time. The information he sends back to the cosmic mind is like an appetizer that makes mortals hungry for food. Father and his assistants orchestrate our life circumstances to experience cosmic knowledge personally.
When I go to classes to be updated in my teaching technique I am made to study and review. When you are taught new thought within the cosmic mind you have actual experience. You can say that some of the world’s issues are cosmic lessons and the experience is taking mortals down a path in which they have a full view of where they have been and where they should strive to be. It is obvious to you now that the spiritual helpers can only put in as much effort as mortals, meaning that should you seek for truth and patiently wait, then are we, as teachers, allowed to help. We are not to force our teachings on mortals, no. We are to simply go with the learning momentum of the mass mind. Father works along those same lines. He can only give you what you can hold.
Those of us on this side can watch our mortal friends stumble and we have to wait until we are invited to help. I appreciate the integrity of each one of you. You work hard and for the most part are willing to earn what you receive. Jesus said, “Knock and the door shall be opened.” We are finding there to be some confusion in the minds of mortals when you are in need of help, but something stands in the way of requesting it.[Abraham--Jan. 11, 2010]
Many things that happen are really not as bad as you would think. They are subject to your human definition. So while you go forth with your new courage to move from your comfort zone to do new things forget not to consult the Divine Overseers for clarification and direction.
Michael's Spirit of Truth runs through the hearts of every man and woman. Nothing will be hidden for long. We must move from our comfort levels to face the truth in whatever form it takes. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." This time of purification and liberation from the old has not been one of ease, no. It has taken courage and stamina to allow our divine Overseers to cut away at the unfruitful branches. Healed individuals make for a healed world.
