As I read the press release about the Spa at Manele’s facelift it brought glorious memories of magical massages, scrubs and skincare treatments your Spa Examiner enjoyed there over the years. One of my favorite Hawaiian health centers, this swank, yet Aloha-style sanctuary forces you to relax from the moment you step into the open-air treatment areas cooled by ocean breezes scented by lipoa local seaweed) and fragrant tuberoses arouse the senses.
You are so ready when the therapist comes to escort you to the table on which they will perform heavenly Hawaiian techniques that turn you into a ripe papaya. Ah memories. Well now I must return to check out what they’ve done to this ocean side oasis which goes something this:
A new complimentary welcome ritual, has been added to facials, body treatments and massage that is called Kala’au Pa’i,. Provided prior to treatments, the luxurious ritual includes a gentle foot exfoliation and stimulation of key reflexology points using kala’au (guava sticks grown in the upcountry of Lanai) to pa’i (tap) the soles of the feet. In addition to capturing an authentic sense of place, the treatment gently relaxes the body prior to a blissful spa journey.
Enhanced décor and furniture throughout the reception, lounge and treatment rooms, creating a cohesive and soothing ambiance for rejuvenation. The clean, contemporary design incorporates natural wood found throughout the islands and a new slate reception desk, with a design echoing bamboo shoots. Rich wall textures are complemented by materials reflecting the hues and tones found on Lanai, anchored by distinctive Hawaii artwork.
Newly launched true Hawaiian treatments such as Ki Pola Ho’olu (Cooling Ti-leaf Wrap), Lomilomi Massage and a Royal Hawaiian Facial with warm stones, all practiced by Four Seasons’ skillful spa therapists.
