Apparently reality shows can’t get enough of Kate Gosselin. The former “Kate Plus 8” star will trade places with Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson on the season premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap,” reports ABC on Feb. 14.
Gosselin has made a career of appearing on reality shows such as “Kate Plus 8” and “Dancing With the Stars.” Wilkinson, who achieved a degree of fame as Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, has also made a career out of reality shows: “The Girls Next Door,” “Kendra” and “Kendra on Top.”
ABC’s “Celebrity Wife Swap” features two female celebrities who trade lives for a week, walking in the other’s shoes to see how the “other half” of celebrity lives.
In this case, that means Wilkinson will take care of Gosselin’s eight children, the sextuplets, who are 8 years old, and the twins, who are 12. Gosselin will spend her time with Wilkinson’s husband, former NFL wide receiver Hank Basskett and their 3-year-old son.
Contrary to the show’s name, “Celebrity Wife Swap” does not appear to require its stars be married. Gosselin is not, having been divorced from Jon Gosselin since 2009.
Of course, ABC makes sure to note that the show is about celebrity mothers and not wives, per say. In its press release, ABC notes:
“‘Celebrity Wife Swap’ follows mothers in two celebrity families with very different values as they swap lifestyles, children and homes (but not bedrooms), for one week and embark on a journey like no other. They're given the chance to see how another celebrity raises their children and deals with life in the spotlight, while allowing both couples the opportunity to re-discover why they love each other and why they decided to get together in the first place.”
Of course, that begs to question as to who Gosselin’s other, better half is…will Jon Gosselin make an appearance during Wilkinson’s time with his children?
The recent line-up for “Celebrity Wife Swap” just proves what anyone watching “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” already knows. People who appear in reality show are now considered celebrities, their celebrity status being based on – well – appearing on reality shows. And being a reality-show star is a career.
The season premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap,” featuring Gosselin and Wilkinson, airs Feb. 26 on ABC at 8 p.m.
