Atlanta Braves fans know Dan Uggla as the only 2nd baseman in major league history to hit at least thirty home runs in four consecutive seasons. But last year Uggla also organized a charity called Diamonds in the Rough. Uggla is hosting his 2nd annual Celebrity Waiter Night to raise money for the charity, which benefits Georgia children in need. The fundraiser is scheduled for Monday evening, July 16th, 7p, at STK Atlanta. This exclusive event features four courses of STK's signature cuisine, fine wine, an auction, plus many of Uggla’s Braves’ teammates helping him serve steak dinners to the guests. Celebrity Waiters include Freddie Freeman, Brian McCann, Martin Prado, Jonny Venters, Mike Minor and more. The event is emceed by Matt Chernoof and Sandra Golden of 680AM The Fan, a sports talk radio station.
“Through this event, we hope to raise awareness and support for children and families in need. With the help of the community, this unique event, will not only be a fun evening for those in attendance, but also an important opportunity to impact young lives right here in Georgia,” said Uggla.
Dan Uggla’s Diamonds in the Rough Foundation is a not-for-profit that strives to provide opportunities, support and resources to children and families in need. The primary focus of the foundation is to improve the lives of low-income, critically and chronically ill children by providing daily support and life changing experiences. Limited tickets are $250.
STK is one of the restaurants of The ONE Group. The hospitality company is known for its high-energy dining venues around the country. They opened their first Atlanta restaurant, a signature steakhouse concept called STK, in Midtown Atlanta in December 2011.
