Celebrity swatting is a new kind of prank being played on celebrities. Swatting involves trying to trick law enforcement and armed response teams into showing up at an unsuspecting celebrity’s home. There a several celebrities who were victims of this prank.
Chris Brown was recently a target of celebrity swatting. In a report on CNN, police visited the recording artist’s home after receiving a call alerting them of a domestic violence incident. Later, it was found out that it was a hoax. Chris Brown was not home when the police arrived.
The Kardashians were targeted last Friday. The prank call stated that someone was shot in their home. A swat team of 15 showed up along with 3 helicopters. Kim Kardashian stated, “These prank calls are not funny! People can get arrested for this! I hope they find out who is behind this. It’s dangerous and not a joke!”
Tom Cruise received a visit from the police at his home after law enforcement received a call that an armed robbery was in progress. Cruise was not home when the police arrived.
