Summer is synonymous with sleeveless styles, but let’s face it – your underarms are not exactly the sexiest of body parts. Working to change that are the experts over at Dove, who have revolutionized underarm care with their new range of deodorants. They’ve even enlisted A-list celebrity stylist Erin Walsh to help with the task.
With countless years in the industry, Erin has dressed everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristen Wiig to Kerry Washington and Leslie Mann. Taking a moment to sit down with us she shared her thoughts on the partnership with Dove, summer styling tips and whether or not armpits really are making a comeback.
I’m working with Dove to inspire women everywhere to wear sleeveless! As a fashion stylist, I know that sleeveless can often feel scary and make women feel vulnerable or exposed. However the Dove Advanced Care product line provides softer, smoother underarms in just 3 days, so that all women can feel confident going sleeveless
Your clothes will always look better if you’re feeling beautiful and I’m excited to be working with Dove Advanced Care to spread this confidence message.
Do you think armpits are "making a comeback"?
Yes, underarms are one thing, but more importantly it is confidence that is making a comeback. I always think people look great when their most comfortable and confident. I would like to see a surge of confidence in women, and sleeveless fashion is one way to project that feeling.
What are some of the must-have styles for summer? Why? Are there any looks that are universally flattering?
I love trapeze cuts, for shirts and dresses in the summer. They look good on everyone and are even better when paired with a little heel – even if just 1-inch. A cropped pant is also fun in the summer. It should be cut to show the smallest part of your ankle. Denim on denim is another look I’m loving this season. It doesn’t even have to match! Finally, all white looks good on everyone. A nice white blouse is something every woman should own.
What are your must-have beauty essentials for the season?
Sunscreen is a must, Dove Advanced Care Deodorant (I like the Nourished Beauty fragrance!), and lip balm.
Any last tips for a chic and stylish summer?
I think it is fun to experiment with sunglasses during the summer season. Sunglasses look good on anyone and you can buy them to match your personality. I also think it is fun to pair lots of jewelry with swimwear. Some people think it can get a bit hot, but I think it’s very chic! Birkenstocks and Converse are also great options to wear to the beach.
In addition, fabrics like silk, cotton and linen are key for this season. It’s also important to think about undergarments too. You don’t want to be wearing a lot of layers when it’s super-hot outside.
