The two traveled from Dallas, Texas celebrating the holiday season as well as their second wedding anniversary. It was a festive Saturday afternoon, as Melissa arrived to the white carpet dressed in a red chiffon top, Simon G earrings and David Lerner leggings paired with red high heels. Tye joined Melissa for photos as they stopped to meet and greet fans. Melissa and Tye both agreed, "The Venetian is one of our favorite places to stay. Little did we know Winter in Venice is the perfect time to come!" As soon as they saw the ice, it was "stilettos to skates" as Melissa ditched her red high heels for laced up ice skates just before joining Tye to greet the crowd wishing them all "Happy Holidays." The two posed for photos on the ice with fans, skated around and tested out their ice skating moves. After lots of spins and kisses on the ice, Melissa and Tye enjoyed a cup of the Winter in Venice hot chocolate from Cafe Presse as they checked out the holiday festivities. Melissa grabbed a Santa hat and Tye put on an elf hat as they were joined by the Winter in Venice holiday characters for some fun and festive photos. A stilt walker joked with Tye as he stole Melissa for a quick dance on Doge's Palace bridge. Next, they headed over to check out the 65 ft holiday tree where Melissa told Tye, "Hah, I'm right there is a giant Christmas Tree on the strip." Before heading inside, they made a quick stop to try some roasted chestnuts and cookie dough truffles from First Food and Bar. The two ended their day relaxing and enjoying a signature holiday cocktail, Gondolier Blanco, at the Laguna Champagne Bar.
Grammy award-winning artist Michelle Branch performed an acoustic concert in The Venetian Showroom tonight to celebrate Winter in Venice and benefit HELP of Southern Nevada in partnership with Sunny 106.5. Looking rocker chic in a leather jacket and skinny black jeans, Branch opened the show with her chart topper "Everywhere" before going on to perform other hits including "Goodbye to You" and "Leave the Pieces." Getting everybody into the holiday spirit, she also performed holiday favorites such as "Silent Night" and "River." The audience was treated to a sneak peek off her upcoming album, due to be released next year, which she described as "poppier" but with a touch of the country twang people are used to from The Wreckers. Branch joked with the crowd, telling them it was okay to take pictures and get a little rowdy since "it's Vegas after all!" Some audience members shouted out requests to which Branch graciously obliged, resulting in loud cheers. The crowd went especially wild for her hit "All You Wanted" and the Grammy award-winning Santana collaboration "Game of Love." After entertaining guests for more than an hour with her songs and personal stories, Branch ended the show to a standing ovation.
When asked about her New Year's resolutions, she said, "I have the same one every year and that's to drink more water. But a new one is to unplug - I'm addicted to Twitter and Facebook and I need to scale down a little bit..turn off the TV, pick up a book." Branch said the holidays are her favorite time of year because, "Work slows down and I can put on sweatpants, not wear any makeup, cuddle up on the couch with my daughter and watch old Christmas movies. I've found new joy in Christmas as a mom and all of the holiday magic comes flooding back." She continued, "The season is all about sharing and giving back so I'm here to support a great cause with HELP of Southern Nevada. That's always the message I keep at the forefront of my mind and I'm instilling that in my daughter as well, reminding her not to get carried away with the presents and to keep the spirit of giving alive."
On the Winter in Venice celebrations, Branch exclaimed, "It's phenomenal what The Venetian has done to get everybody in the mood. I love The Venetian because you never have to leave - it's a one-stop holiday destination. This is my last show of the year and this has been a perfect way to wrap up 2011."

New Year Healthy Eating Tips with QVC’s David Venable
After the last piece of pie has been served and the final champagne bottle has been uncorked this holiday season, many people will slowly shift from gluttony to guilt-free eating. This year, encourage your readers to take a hands-on approach to eating healthy in the new year with the help of David Venable, program host of QVC’s popular cooking and dining show In the Kitchen with David. Venable, who has worked alongside some of the industry’s top celebrity chefs, knows his way around the kitchen and has a passion for cooking. Rather than sacrificing taste when preparing a healthy meal, he offers the following tips for a healthier diet:
Spice it up and switch it up: When preparing high calorie meals such as chili and mac & cheese, choose lighter ingredients. Use turkey instead of beef in your chili. Use reduced-fat cheese and milk in your mac & cheese. And, in all of your cooking, you can always replace sugar with a substitute or trade salt for extra spices.
Eat at home: Not only will your family benefit from the togetherness of gathering around the table every night, but you can control what your family eats. At restaurants, that’s virtually impossible. Encourage children to get involved during the cooking process so that they can learn how to make nutritious meals. And, always use the freshest ingredients possible.
Make dinner more colorful: Fruits and veggies are loaded with nutrients your body needs, so make an effort to incorporate rich color into every meal and not just dinner. In general, the deeper and bolder the color, the more of a health-punch it packs. If your family doesn’t like veggies, sneak them into foods they do love with recipes like chicken and broccoli casserole, veggie soup, and more. You can find these recipes and more great ideas by searching “David’s Recipes” on QVC.com.
