Ever considered tinkering on the piano?
Celebrity Series of Boston certainly has. To celebrate its 75th season, Celebrity Series of Boston partner with artist Luke Jerram to install 75 festive pianos all over public spaces in Boston and Cambridge with the simple slogan, “Play me, I’m yours.” The public is encouraged to play these pianos as they wish for their enjoyment! Check out the slideshow to see a few of the pianos that have been decorated by artists for installation!
These pianos will be installed and ready to play from Friday, September 27 through Tuesday, October 14. Along with the public opportunities to play, there will also be scheduled solo and group performances during this time. Sponsors for this event include the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Arts Academy, Harvard Office of the Arts, Prudential Center, and the City of Boston.
“I want to congratulate Celebrity Series of Boston on 75 years of bringing the world's greatest performing artists to our city," said Mayor Thomas M. Menino. "The public piano festival, ‘Play Me I'm yours,’ will give residents and visitors a chance to make music in the streets of Boston through this exciting public art installation.”
This piano project has become a worldwide event with 700 pianos installed from New York to Sydney, reaching millions of people. For more information about the piano festival ‘Play Me, I’m Yours,’ visit www.celebrityseries.org or www.streetpianosboston.com.
