In this preview of Celebrity Rehab 3, Mike Starr listens to Alice in Chains and thinks about his old lead singer and friend, Layne Staley.

It's day 15 and in less than a week the patients will be leaving the safety of the treatment environment. Dr. Drew is concerned about Mike working through the death of Layne, who died of a drug overdose in 2002. He listens to Alice in Chains to feel close to him again. It takes him back to when Layne was alive and they got to pay for a decade together (good memories for Mike).

Exploring loss and guilt over Layne's death are important parts of his recovery. Mike was 20 when Alice in Chains was formed., He feels haunted by intense feelings surrounding the death of his good friend, which remains a threat to his sobriety. He must address these in treatment.

It's the first day of family weekend and an important part of recovery as patients are reunited with their loved ones as sober individuals. It will be the first time that the patients have seen their families sober in quite some time. It will be an intense time for Mike as he will meet with Layne's mother, Nancy, who he has avoided since Layne's death eight years ago.

The Band Alice in Chains sold over 17 million albums worldwide. The band achieved two number-one Billboard 200 albums (Jar of Flies and Alice in Chains), 14 top ten songs on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and seven Grammy Award nominations. (Wikipedia)
